Staff Review:

The contents of all posts, personal messages and links are reviewed by the staff-members of VoA, so try to refrain from posting large quantities of links.
If any staff-member is unsure whether a post or link breaks the rules or may harm VoA or its members or takes too long to check, it will will be taken off the forum and a decision will be made to edit, delete or restore the post. The staff will keep the member informed during this process, which can sometimes take up to three days.
Repeated or deliberate violations of the Rules are grounds for a temporary or permanent ban. Please use the ‘report this post’ button on any offending post to alert the staff.

Legal Issues:

VoA is visited by people from all over the world. Because American and Canadian laws are amongst the most conservative, we have chosen to use these laws as the basis of the guidelines under which we operate. In truth, our guidelines are even a little more conservative. We do this so that VoA remains a safe haven for all.
Be aware that the contents of all Personal Messages are monitored by the VoA administrators.

Plain text English:

The contents of all posts on VoA must be in plain text English and any links leading to foreign language content must be translatable by Google or Babelfish.
Also, no form of encrypted content is allowed to be posted. All efforts to hide communications from moderation can be grounds for an immediate and permanent ban.

Harassment or disrespectful comments:

Discrimination, threats, insults, personal attacks, or any type of structural disrespect or harassment against other members will not be tolerated.
Mild exceptions to this rule might arise in the debate part of the forum where members will sometimes engage in heated discussions.
It is however advisable to agree to disagree rather then to disrupt the welcoming spirit of the forum.

Admissions:

Admitting to illegal activities not only endangers you, but could also be grounds for the VoA server to be seized by law enforcement for investigative purposes.
Such admissions may be removed by the staff of VoA and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Admitting or alluding to possession of child porn.*
  • Admitting or alluding to personal sexual experiences involving minors* or having plans to engage in sexual acts with minors.
  • Admitting to downloading or purchasing of "obscenity," or revealing information where it may be viewed or downloaded (this includes manga and sexually explicit stories involving minors)*

(*Exceptions may be made if you were convicted or acquitted of the illegal activity you are describing in a court of law, and you provide a disclaimer about this in every post where you mention such activity.)

Accusations:

Accusing someone of criminal activity may be libel and can be grounds for legal action against you.

Advocating or Encouraging Illegal Acts :

If a poster expresses an interest in committing an illegal act, please do not encourage that member to continue on this path. These types of encouragements violate Canadian law.

Personal Information:

There are several vigilante groups which are actively creating profiles on posters on this and other Child-Love sites.
The list of information used by these vigilantes to ‘out’ members, include details such as:

  • Mentioning your real first or last name, or the names of family members.
  • Locations, such as cities or specific areas.
  • User names, which lead to other places when googled.
  • Email addresses which were posted or used to register accounts on other forums or other social networking sites.
  • Links to websites which contain or reveal identifying details about yourself or others..
  • Local events, or natural disasters.
  • Birth dates and dates of the birth and deaths of family members.

Posts containing details like the above may be edited or deleted by the staff, unless the person posting it specifically requests otherwise.
Posts judged to contain identifiable details about other members will be removed by the staff and will likely result in a permanent ban of the poster.

Sexually Explicit Content:

What is considered illegal under the laws of the US and Canada can be very tricky to judge. There are no "bright line" tests. For this reason VoA draws a conservative line. A rule of thumb is that anything that is overtly sexually suggestive (whether the minors are real or fictional) will not be permitted on VoA. Also, the VoA staff has the final word on what is acceptable.

Private possession of sexually explicit material like some lolicon/stories are legal under the laws of America and Canada and discussion about it is allowed. However, be aware that some of this material could be considered obscene, and possessing, downloading or purchasing obscene material or disclosing information where it may be viewed online is illegal. Since there are no hard lines to judge what is obscene, we do not allow posting of, or links to sexually explicit content.

Q. Is any form of ‘picture trading’ allowed on VoA?

No. So do not request or agree to do so.
And again, be aware that all personal messages (PMs) are monitored by the VoA administrators.

All rules are subject to change without notice.
